The Rainbow and Sunshine Class has settled back into routine really well after the Christmas Holidays. We have a fun and exciting half term ahead.
Our overall topic will be learning about animals. In Science we will be categorising them into mammals, birds, reptiles, insects, amphibians and fish. In Topic, the focus will be on the animals habitats such as woodlands, deserts, and under the sea to name a few. Where possible, we will be taking the children out on some trips to enhance their learning further. We will inform you of these as and when the time comes.
Our literacy will link into the topic, for example, we learnt about arctic animals this week, so the children focused on a story called “Lost in the Snow”. Next week, our learning is about birds, so we will look at the story: “Owl Babies”. The children will also have writing opportunities throughout the day (inside and outside) where they are encouraged to write in their own ways for their own needs.
The children are continuing to work hard on their sounds and reading and we are so pleased with the progress that they are all making. The new handwriting scheme is going really well and we can really see a difference already!
In Maths, we will continue with our learning as before; 3D shapes, numbers, counting, ordinal numbers, data, patterns, symmetry, addition and subtraction.
If you have anything that you can add to our learning then please do let us know!
We thank you for your continued support.
