On behalf of the pupils, staff, parents and governors we would like to welcome you to Ludgvan School, an Academy school – a thriving, happy and fun environment where everyone is valued and respected. Our school is an integral part of a dynamic community, where we all have the opportunity to achieve our highest potential for life. Ludgvan School is a leading school and we are always at the forefront of improving our facilities and provision further, and our committed and professional team works very hard to that end. We pride ourselves on being a friendly open school where all children try to do their best from the moment they enter the reception class, to when they move on to secondary school. Our only expectation of each and every child is that they reach the absolute maximum of their own potential, and can leave the school gates at the end of the day saying “I can do it!”
Our learning styles go far beyond that of the traditional pen and paper. We use innovative classroom opportunities, hands-on learning experiences, stimulating class discussion, partner and small group projects, and interesting off-site trips, visits and external speakers that challenge our students to stretch their understanding and gradually become more independent learners. We believe that early learning is the root of every child’s success. To that end, parents and carers are their child’s most important teacher. To assist parents/ carers in becoming effective teachers, we work with you to build and strengthen these skills.
Character education and the development of personal values enhance our children’s educational experience and their sense of emotional safety in our community. We live by virtues, or aspects of character in our School. These virtues are instilled and reinforced as our students go about their daily learning. We acknowledge and honour when a child is demonstrating them in our classrooms. We are pleased to offer a wide range of Before and After School activities to challenge children and keep them engaged and there are regular opportunities for parents to become involved in school life.
We have a very special and unique leadership style here at Ludgvan. Unlike many schools with one head teacher, we have four members of the senior leadership team who take on enhancedresponsibility for the running of the school. Each member of the senior leadership team are teachers and are therefore leading from the ground. Find out more in the ‘meet the team’ page.
