Jennifer’s Trip to Athens.

Chris Mottram 2nd November 2016

While everyone was having fun and enjoying their half term break, Jennifer flew out to Athens, Greece to compete in the 2016 Tang Soo Do European Championships.

Part of an elite team of 7 fighters which also included SBN Robert James, the Master from ISK School of Martial Arts in Redruth, Cornwall, Jennifer and her brother James represented England for the second time this year. Jennifer had the huge honour of being chosen to lead out the England Team in the opening parade, met with rapturous applause, this was a very proud moment indeed.

Competing against teams from Germany, Greece, Belgium & the Netherlands to name but a few, Jennifer claimed a staggering victory after fighting in mixed categories with both boys and girls, some of whom were older than her and won not only two Gold medals for Sparring and a Silver for Kata/Forms, she also brings back a championship title! Jennifer Midgley-Payne is the Under 12 European Tang Soo Do Champion 2016.
Her older brother, James, also formerly from Ludgvan School, enjoyed success of his own by winning both Gold and Silver for Sparring and Silver for Kata/Forms.
Two European Champions in the same family is quite unprecedented and there’s no rest for Jennifer who is straight back to training, focused on the next competition in November, the Grand Open Karate Cup. This will take place in Essex where she will compete using her Korean style of combat against various traditional Japanese Karate disciplines.
Jennifer is a shining example of how commitment, determination, discipline and a single minded pursuit of your goals can lead to remarkable results and a consistent track record of success.
Huge congratulations to Both Jennifer and James for their outstanding achievements!

On the 12th July from 1:30-3pm, we will be holding a Careers Fair for KS2, particularly Y6. The aim of this session will be to raise awareness of the huge range of professions that are available to young people when they leave education. We are dedicated to preparing our children for their lives outside of school and this event will be the first of its kind that we have held. If you are available to support this event by explaining your job role, talking to children about it, showing some equipment or sharing some stories, we would really appreciate it. If you can attend, please contact me on All careers and job roles welcomed. Thank you. ... See MoreSee Less
