Welcome to Ludgvan School…An Academy School

On behalf of the pupils, staff, parents and governors I would like to welcome you to Ludgvan School. An Academy School. Ludgvan School with traditional values and a modern approach – a thriving, happy and fun environment where everyone is valued and respected. Ludgvan school is set in the heart of the village of Ludgvan, near Marazion and Penzance – one of the most beautiful parts of the world and we are so lucky to have such a natural environment at arm’s length to access some wonderful teaching and learning opportunities. We are an integral part of a dynamic community, where we all have the opportunity to achieve our highest potential for life. Our emblem is an anemone and appears on the school uniform. This dates from when Canon Boscawen brought seeds back in 1925 from a Mediterranean holiday and introduced the commercial growing of anemones in Ludgvan.

Our Achievements

We were delighted to have upheld our Outstanding grading from Ofsted in March 2014. This truly reflected the hard work, dedication and teamwork of the staff, governors, parents, community and most importantly, our children. Alongside this, we have also been nationally recognised for our ‘reflective marking’ and ‘International links’; as well as a Distinction award in the delivery of our PE and Sports. We are a pioneering school, always looking out for new and exciting opportunities to enhance the teaching and learning of our pupils.

Our Approach

Our biggest achievement is having the good fortune of such a positive team and family atmosphere about the school, ultimately resulting in very happy children. Character education and the development of personal values enhance our children’s educational experience and their sense of emotional safety in our community. We live by virtues, or aspects of character in our school. These virtues are instilled and reinforced as our students go about their daily learning. We acknowledge and honour, when a child is demonstrating them in our classrooms.
